Born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, Rick was the son of the late Marion James and Mildred Abrams Thompson.
He was a member of Laurel Baptist Church, where he found great comfort and strength in his faith.
Rick graduated from J.L. Mann High School and Greenville Technical College, where he excelled in his studies. He went on to have a successful career as a structural engineer at Metromont.
Rick's legacy is one of integrity, dedication, and love, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by a brother, Thomas "Tommy" Thompson; and many cousins.
A visitation will be held Sunday, May 05, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown. The graveside service wil be held Monday, May 6, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Cannon Memorial Park in Fountain Inn, SC.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Crescent Hospice for their care of Rick.
