Jane Nieman of Louisville, died on February 16, 2023 following a brief illness. She is survived by her daughter Tamara "Tami" Nieman, and her husband, Michael Moses of Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y. and her son, Erik Nieman, of Louisville; Her grandsons, Julian Moses and Evan Moses of Croton-on-Hudson, and Thomas Nieman of Fort Morgan, Colorado; along with her dear nieces, Elizabeth O'Bannon of Shreveport, LA and Kristin Black of Louisville, and their families.
Jane was born on March 2, 1935 in Berea, KY to James "Harry" Springsted and Anna "Louise" Springsted, the 2nd and middle daughter of 3 daughters. The oldest, Diane Hefley, and youngest, Karin O'Bannon; both preceded her in death.
Jane graduated from Centre College in Danville, KY and later received her Masters in Social Work from the University of Louisville. She worked for over thirty years for the State of Kentucky in Adoptions and Foster Care. She loved her job and serving the children and families of Kentucky. She married John Arthur "Jan" Nieman, Jr. on September 9, 1956, who predeceased her in 1996. She enjoyed her family, her church family at John Knox Presbyterian Church, and her many pets.
Jane also was an amazing cook, baker and a master gardener, who shared her love of food and flowers with everyone around her. She had many "hidden" talents, as well; that of an artist, flower arranger, poet and singer/musician. Jane was a kind and loving soul, who genuinely cared for her friends, family, and those in need. Her warm and loving soul will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be from 2:00pm – 5:00pm, Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Pearson Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Monday, at 10:00am.
The family would like to ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The American Red Cross or The Kentucky Humane Society in Jane's memory.
Arrangements under the direction of Pearson's, "Where Louisville Goes To Remember".
