Janet Gail (Enteman) Smith, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully at Hampton Oaks in Scottsburg, IN, on July 10, 2024. She was born on April 2, 1938, in Henryville, IN, to Carl and Myrlo Madge (Carpenter) Enteman.
Janet's life was marked by dedication and compassion. She worked at Corning Glass Co. on 15th Street in Louisville, KY, drove a school bus for over 30 years for West Clark Schools, and diligently contributed to a local dairy farm.
On May 2, 1964, Janet married the love of her life, Roscoe Louis Smith, in Underwood, IN. Together, they nurtured a loving family until his passing on June 6, 2017.
Janet was an active member of the Henryville United Methodist Church and found joy in her affiliations with the Southern Indiana Quilters Group, Clark Extension Homemakers, and Sellersburg Ladies Auxiliary. She graduated from Henryville High School in 1956 and cherished lifelong friendships from her school days.
In her leisure time, Janet was an avid quilter, found solace in books, and delighted in her travels across the continental United States.
Janet will be dearly missed by her three children: Rebecca Lynn (William) Havens of Indianapolis, IN, Carl Louis (Michelle) Smith of Danville, KY, and Marie Irene Mosteller of Henryville, IN. Her legacy extends to her seven grandchildren: Brittany Renee Havens, Bridget Rachelle (Bryan) Martinez, Isabella Grace-Leigh Smith, Clarke Louis Smith, Elizabeth Rose (Anthony) Hofmann, Timothy James Wells, Daniel Thomas Wells, and Rachel Marie Wells, as well as her great-granddaughter, Briella Faith Martinez. She is also survived by her brother, Gerald (Valerie) Enteman.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Myrlo Madge Enteman, her husband, Roscoe Louis Smith, and her son-in-law, Jerry Mosteller.
A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Dave Colbert, will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Henryville, IN. Visitation hours will be on Friday, July 19, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and on Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
