Jean-Pierre Viguerie Bienvenu, age 51 years, a lifetime New Orleanian, was born in
New Orleans, La. on November 9, 1973, to Paul Albert Bienvenu, III and Elizabeth Viguerie Bienvenu. He passed away at his home in Metairie, La. on January 22, 2025. "Jean", sometimes "JP", attended Holy Name of Jesus elementary school, Christian Brothers School and was a proud graduate of Jesuit High School. He attended college at Louisiana State University and graduated from Loyola University in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in psychology. At LSU he was initiated into Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and The Friars Club of LSU. He and his pledge brothers remained close friends throughout his life. During his childhood summers in the 1980's, Jean was a happy camper at Camp Mountain Lake and Camp Point Clear both in Tennessee where he developed a lifelong love of outdoor sports, including horses and their care, riflery and archery, sailing, hiking and most of all, swimming. Throughout his life Jean swam daily and remained fit and muscular, eventually earning his personal trainer certificate.
As an adult, Jean-Pierre loved mathematics and the financial markets. He developed his skills in those areas becoming a licensed professional financial advisor, most recently working in that capacity with Edward Jones Investments. His clients loved him and his valuable investment advice. One of his greatest joys was being with his family on outdoor adventures: sailing trips in Lake Pontchartrain and the gulf; visiting the barrier islands; hiking the Smokey Mountains, particularly overnight hikes up Mount LeConte and hiking the Colorado Rockies; swimming in cold streams and evenings together in front of a fireplace playing guitar and singing old cowboy and camp songs. Jean never met a stranger. He was affable and friendly and loved by all. He had a great interest in history, particularly Louisiana and New Orleans history and genealogy about both sides of his family. He presented several entertaining historic vignettes on the local internet "GUMBO SHOW". He was a gifted public speaker. He is survived by his 3-year-old son, Evan Viguerie Bienvenu, who he adored along with his former wife, Erin Kolb Bienvenu. Jean-Pierre loved being a father. He is also survived by his parents and his brother Al Bienvenu (Carol), his sister, Elizabeth Bourgeois (Ronnie), and his brother Andre Bienvenu and by his niece Gigi Nalty (Mooney), his grand-niece Evie, his nieces Madeleine and Taylor Bienvenu and by his nephew, Albert Bienvenu (V), Ronnie, Miller and Emery Bourgeois all of whom live in the metro New Orleans area. They loved being together enjoying their leisure times fishing and duck hunting in the Louisiana marshes and waterways, Tennessee and Colorado mountains and Destin, Florida beaches and enjoying loads of Louisiana cuisine and music.
Jean-Pierre will be fondly remembered and missed by all who knew him.
A Funeral Mass for Jean-Pierre will be celebrated at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St,
