On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, Joe Allen Whittemore, at the age of 73, left his Earthly body to spend eternity in Heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Joe was born on July 14, 1950. The son of Catherine Louise and Joe Calvin Whittemore was preceded in death by both parents and his only brother, Thomas Calvin and his beloved wife Judy Kilgore Whittemore. He is survived by his sister-in-law Janet M. Whittemore, niece Lynn W. Thacker, her husband Sean and son, Sean Michael. As well as nephew David Whittemore and his sons, Joshua and Jacob and wife Nicole, along with both their families, his children Lisa and Zachary Brown, Bill and Kristi Johnson and Jay and Dawn Johnson, grandchildren Hannah, Emme, Ryan and Tate Johnson, Zachary, Ellis Marie, Hudson and Fitz Griffin Brown and Brother-in-Law Ronnie Kilgore, many cousins, and extended family.
A graduate of McEachern High School and Georgia State University, Joe was the owner of The PM Consulting group and helped many individuals, doctors, and businesses with accounting services and financial advice. Joe was a musician who played the organ for many churches and loved singing in the choir and with friends in various ensembles.
Joe met the love of his life when he was taking piano lessons in the early 1970s. He and Judy remained friends throughout life and played together whenever called upon. As fate would have it, Joe and Judy were able to start dating later in life when they were both musicians at Lithia Springs United Methodist Church and were married in April of 2000. They continued to serve and worship the Lord through music until declining health prevented them from being able to attend church in person.
Joe loved to attend concerts, plays, and musicals with Judy and their friends. It was not uncommon for them to take road trips to see friends and family perform. Joe loved to drive and would often drive Judy wherever she wanted to see their grandchildren perform in the arts and sports. He also loved traveling, and he and Judy visited countries all over the world.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Glenloch Baptist Church in Franklin, GA. The family will receive friends and family casually beginning at 10:00 AM, and a celebration of life service will begin at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests that donations be made to the Glenloch Senior Adult Ministry Projects c/o Glenloch Baptist Church, 2807 Glenloch Road, Franklin, GA 30217, or online at http://glenlochbaptist.org/online-giving.
Condolence messages can be sent to the family at www.martin-hightower.com. Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
