John McClure Obituary
John C. McClure, 73, of Kingston, passed away on October 24, 2025, surrounded by family.
John was born to Robert (Bob) and Elizabeth Wood McClure of Kingston, TN. He attended Roane County High School and in 1971 joined the United States Air Force. He later served in the Army National Guard, retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 2011.
By trade, John was a boilermaker and a proud member of Local 453. He later earned his master's degree from the University of Tennessee and retired from TVA.
In 1975, John married Carolyn Guinn, and together they built a family. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn; daughters Jeannie McClure Davidson (Bill) and Sarah McClure Santos (Ricardo), both of Kingston; grandsons Brandon McClure and Ethan Pannell; granddaughters Gracey Pannell and Jessica Davidson Yarbrough (Zach); two great-grandchildren; his younger brother Joseph McClure (Shelia), of Kingston, sister-in-law, Sarah Jane McClure of Tucson, AZ, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers William Eugene McClure, and Robert McClure Jr., of Tucson, AZ
John's family would like to give special thanks to our dear friends and caregivers, GayAnn Stone and Veronica Vineyard, for their loving care and support during his final years.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston, TN, with the service to follow. A private burial will take place at a later date.
John will be remembered for his service to his country, his skill as a craftsman, his faith, and above all, his love for his family.

Lieutenant Colonel John McClure was a true patriot, outstanding boilermaker and good friend. I had the privilege of working with John at Bull Run and Kingston for many years. He was an example to everyone he came in contact with. We had many thoughtful conversations over the years, and I learned much from John. Rest in peace, my friend, and may God comfort your friends and family in their grief at your passing.
