Joseph Richard Weber, 85, of Maryville, IL, peacefully passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Parc Provence in Creve Coeur, MO, with family by his side. Born on April 12, 1940, in Ste. Genevieve, MO, Joe graduated from the University of Missouri School of Mines & Metallurgy (now Missouri S&T) on May 27, 1962, with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He went on to earn a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri, Rolla, graduating on May 23, 1971. Joe dedicated much of his professional life to engineering management at the former McDonnell Douglas Corporation (now Boeing), retiring in 1995 at the age of 55. A proud member of the Knights of Columbus in Maryville, Joe was a man of strong values, deep faith, and quiet generosity. Outside of work, Joe was a devoted family man. He cherished fishing, camping, family vacations, and bike rides, and took great pride in raising his children. He loved to watch and admire nature, bird watching and identifying especially. He was passionate about politics and thoughtful about the world around him. He adored his family and was especially proud of the strength and character of his daughters-in-law, whom he admired for being strong-minded partners to his sons. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy (née Vessell) Weber; his beloved wife, Norma Jean (née Poe) Weber, whom he married on April 8, 1977; his sister, Mary Young; two brothers-in-law, Marvin "Buddy" Hurst and Stewart Young. He is survived by his four children: Joseph P. (Julie) Weber, Gary (Janet) Weber, Brian Weber, and Teresa Weber; his two step-daughters: Patty Poe (Pete) Biondo and Tracey Poe (Dave) Spiller; three grandchildren: Blake Weber, Joseph (Megan) Weber, and Garrett Weber; two sisters: Paulette Hurst and Beatrice (Don) Kohller; and numerous nieces and nephews. In accordance with Joe's wishes, he will be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor his memory and the legacy he leaves behind. Memorials donations may be made in Joe's honor to the Alzheimer's Association. They can be dropped off or mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
