Jonesboro- Layne Michael Fivecoat, 36, passed away Friday, June 30, 2023 at his home.
Layne was born and lived most of his life in Jonesboro. Layne attended ASU after graduating from Jonesboro High School in 2005. Layne was a graduate of John 3:16 Ministries and was employed at Auger Dan's in Trumann.
Layne attended Central Baptist Church and also attended Celebrate Recovery at The Rock and Breaking Bonds at First Methodist Church, all in Jonesboro.
Layne was a friend to all. Most people referred to him as their "best friend" and Layne was just that. If you knew him you loved him. He cared about people and it didn't matter what walk of life you came from or how you lived. His friendship and love for people was genuine. He loved to laugh and crack jokes and had a beautiful smile that was unforgettable. He always studied end time prophecy and watched preaching videos and knew more about biblical matters than you would have guessed. Layne had a talent for playing the drums, loved making tie-dye t-shirts and fishing.
Layne encountered many battles throughout his life but in spite of his struggles he loved Jesus, his family, Chantel and a multitude of friends. He was especially proud of his nephew, Bentley Winters and niece, Harper Anne Ingram.
His John 3:16 family was huge and a brotherhood that made the biggest impact on his life. The friends that he made there were by far his greatest blessings. God surrounded him with men who were nonjudgmental, who embraced him with all his baggage and pointed him to straight to Jesus. The friendships made while at John 3:16 Ministries will forever be engraved on our hearts.
Layne was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earmon and Opal Shatley; Bud and Genieve Fivecoat and his loving aunt, Donna Shatley Winters and uncles, Kevin Shatley and Tommy Fivecoat.
Survivors include his parents, Mike and Tammy Fivecoat of Jonesboro; his sister and brother-in-law, Macee and Hunter Ingram and niece, Harper Anne Ingram of Walnut Ridge and his brother, Devan Winters and nephew, Bentley Winters of Jonesboro; and many family members and a multitude of friends.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. for friends at the Rock of NEA and the funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday also at The Rock. Pastor Jeff Watson will officiate. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include: Devan Winters, Hunter Ingram, Garrett Shatley, Tommy Ellington, Jaron Green, and Russell Scott with junior pallbearer Bentley Winters.
Honorary pallbearers include: Travis Grissom, Ivey Herron, Nic Maglior, Phillip Hout, River Wood, Teddy Bills, Martin Johnston, Alec Sexton, John 3:16 Ministries Brotherhood, Celebrate Recovery, Breaking Bonds, and every "best friend".
Our most sincere gratitude to The Rock for their accommodations for our family in our time of loss and to Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home. We are forever grateful.
