Margaret E. Brown transitioned from her earthly journey to eternal rest on March 12, 2024. She was born in Richmond, Virginia on April 17, 1948, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Eugene Brown. She was preceded in death by her brother, Melvin Liggans, Sr., and nephew Melvin Liggans, Jr. Margaret accepted Christ at an early age at First Union
Baptist Church. She served on the Usher Board and serenaded the audience with her musical talent including playing the piano.

Margaret was educated in the Richmond Public Schools System, where she graduated from Maggie L Walker High School (class of 1966). Upon graduating, she attended Virginia State University. Upon graduating from VSU (one of her first love), she accepted her first teaching job at the Alexandria City Public Schools system.
A retired Vocal Music Teacher of Alexandria City Public Schools, a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Margaret received a Bachelor of Science from Virginia State College (now University), Howard University (Master of Music), University of Virginia (Post Graduate Study), Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Catholic University of America, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Illinois State University. Margaret enjoyed traveling to her favorite escapes Aruba, Barbados, The Netherlands, Malta, Nice, Arles, St. Tropez, and Provence.

Her memory will live on through her two nephews, Michael Liggans, Sr. (Tyra), Matthew Liggans, Sr., and other relatives and friends.
