Margaret LaBella Messore

Margaret LaBella Messore passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at the age of 67. A native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Metairie, LA.
Beloved wife of Joseph Paul Messore. Mother of Francesca Messore (fiancée Scott). Daughter of the late Anthony LaBella and Lucy McCormack LaBella. Sister of Betty LaBella (Bill), Jerry LaBella and Glenn LaBella.
Margaret was an alumnae of Mount Carmel Academy. She graduated from Charity School of Nursing (c/o 1979) and received her Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from SUNY College at Old Westbury where she met the love of her life & best friend, her husband of 37 years, Joe. Margaret worked at Ochsner Medical Center for 40 years and was the manager of the John Ochsner Heart & Vascular Institution for the last 24 years. Over the span of her career, Margaret received several accolades including Great 100 Nurses, Patient Experience Department of the Year - Clinic multiple years in a row, and the initiation of the Margaret L. Messore Lectureship at the Magnolia Chapter of Urologic Nurses & Associates. She also served on several committees including being a founding member and treasurer of the Magnolia Chapter of SUNA. Margaret also was awarded the Key to the City from Mayor Marc Morial for her heroism during the Mother's Day Bus Crash for being the first on the scene.
Margaret was passionate about preventative health & education for the community. She has organized dozens of health fairs that provided head to toe screenings/diagnostics and education including The Cash Money Thanksgiving Health Fair with Boston Scientific.
Margaret was a lover of all animals but especially her sweet dogs Sugars & Johnny #5 and her two grandpups Kida & Loki who just adored her.
Margaret was an avid sports fan. A die hard Saints fan and season ticket holder for the Hornets/Pelicans for 8 years. She also loved playing in her fantasy football leagues and was a big fan & frequent caller to the Tom Fitzmorris Food Show. When not working she enjoyed watching classic movies, playing cards, horse racing, trying new arts & crafts projects, and cooking her famous meatballs & red gravy and her Heavenly Hash & Chex Mix she made every Christmas.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation & Celebration of Life Service on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at L. A. Muhleisen and Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner. Visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
