Sister Mary Agnella Leis Rsm

LEIS, Sister Mary Agnella, RSM, 92, a Sister of Mercy for 73 years, died peacefully at McAuley Convent, Cincinnati, OH, on Monday, May 19, 2025.
Though she began ministry as an elementary school teacher in Louisville and Paducah, KY, her forte was teaching Home Economics, first at Mercy Academy, and then at Assumption High School, where she continued for twenty-four years. Former students still remember and value what they learned in her classes. Upon retirement from education, she moved to St. Catherine Convent, Louisville, where she worked in the infirmary providing a number of support services for the Sisters. During those years after retirement, her interest in and care for the staff members was truly another important ministry.
Sister Agnella was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Leis and Frances Graf, her sisters, Jane and Sister Martha Leis, RSM, and her brother, Friar Bartholomew, OFM Conv. Survivors include her brother Robert Leis, nieces Melinda Defler, Valerie Pruitt, nephew Robert Leis, and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation 9:00 AM and Funeral Mass 10:00 AM on June 10 at St. Raphael Catholic Church, Bardstown Road and Lancashire Avenue, followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery.
