Matthew Aaron Fair was born in
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on October 22, 1982, to Audrey Sue (Smith) Fair and Donald E. Fair. On Monday, July 10, 2023, Matthew passed away unexpectedly. He was 40 years old.
From the time he was very young, Matt was extraordinarily funny, highly outgoing, and charismatic. He grew up in the Moore-Norman area and was baptized in the St. Andrew Catholic Church in Moore, where he remained a faithful longtime member. Matt graduated from Norman North High School with the Class of 2001 and went on to attend classes at Oklahoma City Community College, and later, at the University of Oklahoma. He was highly skilled and mechanically inclined with a knack for electrical work. Most recently, Matt had been employed by one of the largest electrical supply companies in the United States, CED. Before that, he enjoyed his job as a journeyman electrician for McBride Electric in Oklahoma City.
Loving, giving, and loyal were just a few ways to describe Matt. He had the tendency to make friends everywhere he went, and he was incredibly funny, and so friendly. He was a dependable and trustworthy friend to many, maintaining the close relationships he had with his buddies, some of whom he's had since elementary school. If there was someone in his life who needed something, Matt was usually the first to offer his help.
As he was growing up, he discovered a love for baseball. He was an avid Braves fan, and he enjoyed playing on the Little League team coached by his dad and playing for the American Legion league as well. Matt also developed a lifelong love of golf as a youngster, playing in tournaments any time there was an opportunity. He always had the most fun when he was golfing at the Westwood Golf Course with his buddies Sean, Josh, Chris, and Will. Of course, there was always the Sooners, and those who knew Matt knew that Saturdays were for football, and he never missed an OU game, especially when there was tailgating involved.
More than anything, he cherished the people he loved. He enjoyed talking about the family vacations he took as a child and loved remembering the fun times he had with his parents at Disney World, Sea World, and the adventures they had in Vegas together. He adored his girlfriend Jenni, and Matt particularly treasured the memories they made during their trip to Mexico. His laughter, warmth, and kindness positively impacted so many lives during his brief time on this earth. While a loss of this magnitude is staggeringly painful, Matt's family and friends are comforted knowing he is in the presence of our Lord and Savior, safe in his new Heavenly home. He will be very deeply missed.
Matt is survived by his loving parents, Don and Audrey Fair, his girlfriend and companion, Jenni Thompson, an army of loyal friends, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and colleagues.
