Maurice Steven Jemison, 48, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on May 29, 2025. Maurice Steven Jemison was born on December 9, 1976, in Pensacola,
Florida, to Gladys Higgins and the late Willie Leon Jemison. He grew up in Pensacola alongside his three siblings: his sister Monica Jemison and his brothers William (Alexis) Jemison and Christopher (Latavia) McCarty. Maurice attended Escambia High School, where he began forming the strong work ethic and deep sense of responsibility that stayed with him throughout his life.
From a young age, Maurice was known for his curiosity, playful sense of humor, and silly spirit that brought smiles to those around him. He loved keeping things organized and neat, a trait that reflected his pride in everything he did. He had a soft heart for animals and children and found great joy in spending time with his family.
Maurice was a devoted father to his beloved son, Jayden Jemison, who was the light of his life. He had a natural gift for making people laugh, comforting those around him, and creating lasting memories with family and friends.
He was passionate about cooking and loved sharing meals with those he cared about. He also had a deep love for movies, traveling, and exploring new places. His adventurous spirit took him around the world, including a 16-year career as a food service manager in Afghanistan. Maurice's dedication to his work, even in challenging environments, was a testament to his strength and resilience.
Maurice leaves behind his loving mother, Gladys Higgins; his cherished son, Jayden Jemison; and his siblings: Monica Jemison, William (Alexis) Jemison, and Christopher (Latavia) McCarty. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends who will continue to carry his memory forward.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Leon Jemison, whose guidance and legacy remained close to Maurice's heart throughout his life.
The family would like to give special thanks to all those who showed love, support, and care during this time. Your prayers, kind words, and presence have brought comfort and strength in the midst of sorrow. Maurice touched many lives, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege to know him.
