Melvin Charles Alexander, 87, of Clinton, Utah,
passed away from prostate cancer at our home June 27, 2025, surrounded by family.
He was born October 30, 1937 in Price, Utah to parents, Glen M. Alexander and Violet Bird Alexander. He Graduated from Ben Lomond High School, class of 1955. He enlisted in the Army in 1956, serving in Germany during the Cold War; after which he served as a reservist until he was honarably discharged while serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the British Mission from 1960-1962. When he returned home, he graduated from Weber State College with a Bachelor's degree in Art and also graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor's degree in Education.
He met Sandra Lee Gailey in 1963. They were married in the Logan Utah Temple on December 11, 1964. Sandra devoted her life in Christlike love, serving and caring for Melvin throughout his life.
They are the parents of 5 children: Shalee (Greg) Morrill, Julie (Lamar) Bunderson, LaDawn (Jed) Johnson, Ronda Hill, David (Alician) Alexander. They have 11 living grandchildren: Jordan & Jaycee Morrill, Leela, Jaylin & Glenn Bunderson, McKayla, Ashlyn, Tycen, Zachary & Brynlee Johnson, and Cole Hill.
Melvin was an Interpretive Designer for the US Forest Service and US Park Service. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, oil/watercolor painting, photography, and collecting rocks. We have often heard him sharing (and sometimes embellishing) his army and fishing/hunting stories again and again... After a medical disability in 1988, his new work and love became Family History where he personally gathered over 21,000 names to submit for temple ordinance work.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints and served in various church callings.
Melvin is survived by his wife Sandra, their children, Shalee (Greg) Morrill, Julie (Lamar) Bunderson, LaDawn (Jed) Johnson, Ronda Hill, and David (Alician) Alexander, their grandchildren, his brother Thomas (Marilyn) Alexander and his sister Evelyn A. Sharp.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Violet Alexander, a granddaughter, Raylynne Alanyana Brown, a grandson, James Bunderson, a brother-in-law, Richard Sharp, and many other loved ones.
The family would like to express our gratitude for the hospice care providers at Aspen Ridge: Denise, and especially his nurse Ashlee, for her extra special genuine concern and going the extra mile over and over again. We also give thanks to Bishop Derek Dawes and the Clinton 18th Ward for their loving, generous service to our family. In addition we appreciate the warm, compassionate service provided by Premier Funeral Services.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 5,2025 at 11:00 a.m. @ the Clinton 18th Ward Chapel located @ 2206 West 2300 North Clinton, Utah 84015. Friends and family may visit at a viewing held from 9:00 to 10:30 A.M. before the funeral. Interment: Mendon Utah Cemetery.

We had the privilege of meeting and getting to know Melvin at Pine View rehabilitation center this last February where my husband and Melvin became good friends as they visited at meals in the cafeteria there. They became fast friends as they shared stories and life experiences which became a bright spot of their shared days there. He was a "bright light" Farrell looked forward to seeing each day. He will be missed! We´re grateful for getting to know him. We pray for peace and comfort to his friends and loved ones, especially his wife Sandra. Love, Farrell and Hyla Olsen.
