Obituary
Michael C. Goodie, 73, of East Haddam, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023 at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain Connecticut. Born November 29, 1949 in New Haven, Connecticut; he was a son of the late Jack and Helene (Opotzner) Goodie. Michael attended West Haven High School, and worked for Humphrey Chemical Factory for nearly 30 years. Michael was an avid New York Yankees fan and loved baseball. When his son Travis was younger he used to volunteer his time to coaching little league. Michael was a lifelong member of the NRA and passionately believed in the second amendment, and was also known to enjoy the occasional spirited political debate over a cold beer. His greatest joy in life however was the outdoors. Since his childhood, Michael loved to hunt, fish, and train hunting dogs. He is survived by his children Travis (Stefanie) Goodie and Stacey Goodie, and their mother Deborah Goodie; his brother Avrum Goodie; grandchildren Ava and Ellis Goodie; cousins Stewart Hecht and Merrill Gill; best friend Paul von Hardenberg; and numerous other extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Ken Goodie. A celebration of Michael's life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
