Nancy C. Herman
1950 – 2025
Our sweet and beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Wife, Aunt and friend died peacefully on May 2 after a six-week struggle. She fought hard to stay with us, but it was not to be. Throughout that period, she was lovingly encouraged and sustained by her children, her husband, former and current pastors from her beloved Tower Hill Church and by the prayers of her many friends.
Nancy leaves behind her high school sweetheart and husband of 55 years, Daniel D, her children Shaun, Seth (wife Karen), Rachel, and Jeremy (wife Lindsay), her grandchildren, Dylan, Renata, Miles, Caleb and Jacob, her brother Don (wife Janet) and nephew Scott and nieces Lauren and Alyson. She also leaves behind her many friends and friends of Bill W.
Nancy was raised in South Orange, New Jersey and graduated Columbia High School. She attended Wells College and Kirkland College and received her bachelor's degree from Cleveland State University. Nancy was extremely intelligent, strong willed, sensitive to the needs of others, forthright and honest. She was dedicated to her church, serving several roles, including Deacon, Deacon Moderator and Head Usher. Nancy had several jobs in her lifetime but her greatest joy in life and her all-consuming occupation was raising her four children. They live on today as a testament to her brilliance and dedication.
Nancy was always guided by and sustained by her relationship with and faith in her loving God. She was extremely sensitive and was deeply troubled by injustice and man's mistreatment of his fellow man and the earth God gave us. She made every place she lived more beautiful. It was one of her many gifts. Heaven is perfect for Nancy. She will be sorely missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Nancy at Tower Hill Church, 255 Harding Rd, Red Bank at 11am on Saturday, May 24. A reception will follow in Webster Hall.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Tower Hill Church or World Wildlife Fund.
Services are entrusted to Jersey Shore Cremation, 43 Taylor Avenue, Manasquan, NJ.

In high school I was so happy to find a friend who also spent time at the shore, Beach Haven West and LBI. Nancy was warm and funny and in love. One day Nancy and Danny sailed for hours to visit my family, and then sailed back as the sun set on Barnegat Bay, a beautiful couple. My deepest condolences to Danny and the family you two created. I was delighted that came to cheer me on during my 1990 wedding reception.

Nancy and I were close friends in high school. We spent many afternoons after school at her house just talking, being silly in a teenage girl way. We spent a lot of time talking about her love for Danny and the life she hoped they could build together. Knowing that a teenage love would blossom into a life time together is truly remarkable. She was a kind, generous and an amazing friend. Although we lost touch a short time after school I thought about her often. Nancy was a special person in so many ways. I hope Danny and her family take comfort knowing how well loved she was by so many people she touched in her life.

Nancy was a sweet and kind person. I asked her to sit next to me at my bar mitzvah, and We had a special time. She was lovely inside and out, and when you don´t know who you are as a youth, it makes it a lot easier, to find a friend who likes you for who your undefined self is. Seems like her life went on to be that person she exemplified, from early on. I wish her family lasting memories that were as rich and far beyond mine. Rest in peace.

I remember going to school with Nancy and had quite a crush on her during our high school days. Very sad to learn of her passing. RIP old friend!

I met Nancy at South Mountain Elementary School in 3rd grade when my family moved to South Orange. I remember playing at her home. And I have fond memories of her Mother. Nancy was always known as a sensitive and sweet girl. Our friendship at Columbia High School continued when both our parents bought homes at the Jersey Shore. Nancy and Danny, along with Kenny Jay and myself, would play Monopoly at the shore. Fun memories. Danny was always a particularly fine fellow, and he and Nancy made a lovely couple. My sincere condolences to Danny and the family on the loss of the very special Nancy.
