Nina Wood Obituary

Born on April 15, 1957 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Kathleen (O'Donnell) DeLoreto. Nina was a graduate of La Salle High School in Niagara Falls and later received her nursing certification from Coopers Plains BOCES. She married Lloyd Wood on September 11, 1982. He predeceased her on May 30, 2016. She worked as a nurse for Founders Pavilion for over 20 years before her retirement in 2015.
Nina will be remembered as a lover of animals, especially her dog, Sarge. She was a Buffalo Bills fan and an enthusiastic fan of the show, Supernatural. She loved watching horror movies and anything to do with Halloween. The holidays were especially meaningful to her and she looked forward to celebrating Thanksgiving - surrounding herself with her family and amazing food. Christmas was another favorite pastime, giving her the opportunity to shower those she loved with gifts.
Nina is survived by her children: Kelly Currie of Painted Post, NY, Matt (Maddie) Wood of Horseheads, NY, Brittney (Trystan) Wood of Corning, NY, Vince (Terri) DeLoreto of Niagara Falls, NY; grandchildren: Devan, Dylan, Khloe, Kade, Vincent, Jr., Isabella, Sophia and Troy; step-children: Sandra (Todd) Carlson, Lloyd 'Woody' Wood of Lockport, NY; siblings: Annette (Patrick) O'Connell, Tommy DeLoreto, Barbara (Frank) Kulbago, Daniel DeLoreto; sister-in-law, Carol (Marty) Ward; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Nina was predeceased by her brothers: Steve and Ricky DeLoreto; granddaughter, Kayla Currie; and niece, Tina Joyce.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Phillips Funeral Home, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning has been entrusted with the arrangements.
