Oscar "Chato" Herrera Melendez, 18, passed away on February 11th, 2025. Oscar was born on October 9th, 2006. Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Chato made an impact on everyone who met him.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Chato will remember his kind heart, love for his family, and his drive to accomplish his goals. Chato was rarely seen without a smile on his face, and he had a rare talent for making any situation better through making jokes and inspiring joy. His family and friends were always at the forefront of his mind and his presence will be missed dearly.
Chato attended U.S. Grant High School, where he made friends and was on track to graduate in the spring. Outside of school, he worked at Discount Tire, gaining valuable experience in tire repair, mounting, dismounting, and balancing. In his free time, he enjoyed playing basketball and video games with his friends. Additionally, he cherished spending time with his family, particularly savoring his parents' cooking and enjoying family dinners. After high school, he had a clear vision of pursuing a career in entrepreneurship, with a specific focus on renovating houses.
Oscar leaves his memory to be cherished by his mother, Francisca Herrera; his father, Daniel Roque Olivares; his four sisters, Maria Melendez, Maribel Herrera Melendez, Giselle Chavez, and Lidia Roque Olivares; his three brothers, August Herrera, Bryan Misael Chavez, and Jose Gustavo Chavez; his niece Anysabella Monica Matamoros; his nephew's,
G-ovani Matamoros and Isidro Matamoros his extended family, and his countless friends. Oscar is preceded in death by his sister, Monica Herrera.
Oscar will forever be missed and remembered, we will carry him and his memory with us.
