Patricia Ann "Patty" Ziemer, 83, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Patty was born April 6, 1942 in Evansville to the late Leo and Beulah (Pyle) Schenck. She was the oldest of five children. Patty attended St. Benedict Elementary School, graduated from Memorial High School in 1960, and St Mary's School of Nursing in 1963. After graduation, Patty worked for Dr. Kenneth Wilhelmus until she married her lifelong husband, Jerry Ziemer, in 1964. Patty and Jerry had four children, to whom Patty devoted her time, effort, and passion. While and after raising her children, she shared her talents with many organizations in the Evansville community and played many roles in the PTA and multiple boards at St. Benedict School and Memorial High School. She was a past member of the Jaycee wives and the Junior League of Evansville. She devoted many years assisting the Little Sisters of the Poor, where her mother and sister resided at the end of their lives. One of her greatest joys was helping her husband, Jerry, with his business. She enjoyed greeting visitors, creating a bereavement program and her favorite, helping with interior decorating. Patty was a lifelong member of St. Benedict Cathedral, where she cultivated her faith and worked tirelessly for her family and for others in need.
Patty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a loving caregiver to many of her friends and family members. Patty and Jerry cherished their many lifelong friends and Patty always made those around her feel at home with her warm and positive personality. Patty loved spending time with her family, was happiest with her grandchildren and she always had cookies ready upon their arrival.
Patty is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jerry; children and grandchildren, Jay (Holly) Ziemer, Cole Ziemer, Riley and Anwyn Wilhelmus; Amy (Bill) Ryan, Will, Katie, and AJ; Daniel (Jennifer) Ziemer, Leo, Max, Sam, Ben, and Sadie; Michael (Kristen) Ziemer, Miles, Oliver, and Violet; brother, Steven Schenck; sisters-in-law, Clare Ziemer and Nancy Schenck; brothers-in-law, Ed Ziemer and Pat (Debbie) Ziemer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Patty is also survived by her devoted and kind caregivers, in particular, Debbie, Donna, Lauren, Jenny, Alexa, Megan, Laura, Amanda, and Jennifer with Heart to Heart Hospice and Mary Ellen, Hope, and Carol with Around the Clock.
In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by her brother, John Schenck; sisters, Sandy and Pam Schenck; sisters-in-law, Becky Schenck, JoAnne Schenck, Sharon Higgins, and Barbara Ziemer; brothers-in-law, Ted Ziemer and Bill Higgins; and grandson, Nathaniel Ziemer.
Visitation for Patty will be from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 20, 2025 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville with a Memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2025 at St. Benedict Cathedral, 1328 Lincoln Ave., Evansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Godfrey Mullen, OSB officiating.

Jerry, please accept our deep sympathies on the loss of Patty. She and I grew up together as classmates in grade school and high school. I always looked forward to seeing her at the reunions and will miss her smiling face when and if we have another one. My wife, Donna, even though she came from Chicago, and we met in college and married after we graduated has gotten to know many of my classmates through the reunions and she remembers Patty. She feels the loss as I do. Again our best to the whole Ziemer family.

She was a wonderful supporter and caregiver to her sister Sandy who was in my class. We shared activities and friendship, because of Daniel and Chad's relationship. She will be greatly missed and remembered!! Sincerely, Jane Perkins
