Paul J. Balzarini, Sr. 83, of Franklin, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025, in Boston, Massachusetts, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Lucille C. (Cammarata) Balzarini. Born on December 7, 1941, in Boston, Paul lived a life marked by dedication-to his country, his career, and most importantly, to his family.
A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Paul enlisted in October 1966 and served honorably during the Vietnam War. He achieved the rank of Sergeant (E-5), a testament to his leadership and commitment during a challenging time in our nation's history.
Following his military service, Paul embarked on a long and successful career with Perini Corporation. Beginning in 1970, he worked as a project controller for three decades until his retirement in November 2000. His work ethic and attention to detail earned him respect among colleagues and contributed meaningfully to the company's success over the years.
Paul was a devoted family man who found joy in both quiet moments and lively gatherings. He cherished spending time outdoors and had a deep love for activities that brought him closer to nature and those he loved. Whether casting a line while fishing, heading into the woods for a hunting trip, or enjoying a friendly match of tennis, golf, or pickleball, Paul embraced life with energy and enthusiasm. These passions often became shared experiences with his children and grandchildren-moments that created lasting memories across generations.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: Anthony Balzarini and his wife Renee; Paul Balzarini; and Andrea Vitale. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Nicholas Balzarini, Olivia Vitale, Sophia Vitale, Griffin Balzarini, and Emma Balzarini. Paul also leaves behind his brother Bobby Balzarini and sister Maureen Balzarini Henry.
He was predeceased by his father Charles Balzarini Mother Mary T Piazza, and sister JoAnn Puopolo.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home located at 33 Cottage Street in Franklin, Massachusetts. A prayer service will begin at 6:45PM. A burial service will follow on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Bourne National Cemetery on Connery Avenue in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts. The service will begin at 10:15 AM.
Paul's life was one of quiet strength and enduring love-a man who served with honor and lived with purpose. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
