Fairport: November 9, 1922-September 1, 2021. He is predeceased by his father, Charles LeRoy Briggs; mother, Irma Lauder Briggs; sisters, Phyllis Deal and Joyce Stadt.
Paul is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Beatrice Schroeder Briggs; sons, Peter Briggs, David (Kathleen) Briggs, Thomas (Anna) Briggs; grandchildren, Timothy (Jessica), Matthew, Dennis, Samantha, Margaret, Johnathan; great grandson, Albert; brother-in-law, Ronald (Judy) Schroeder; nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Fairport High School, Paul went on to graduate in 1942 from Bentley College in Boston, MA. Paul served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1945. He spent his entire career working at Rochester Gas & Electric where he retired as CEO and Chairman of the Board in 1988. Paul was an active member of his community, serving on the Board of Directors for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the United Way of New York State, and the United Way of Greater Rochester (serving as chairman in 1985 and 1986). He was also a Trustee of the Eastman Dental Center and Rochester Institute of Technology. Paul was a long-time communicant and Deacon at Transfiguration Lutheran Church.
Paul enjoyed many hobbies including golf, tennis, bowling, gardening, and fishing.
Friends may call Friday, September 10th from 4-6PM at Anthony Funeral Home (2305 Monroe Ave.). A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 11th, 11AM at Transfiguration Lutheran Church, 3760 Culver Rd. Masks are encouraged but not required. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Transfiguration Lutheran Church.

Paul's standards were high but also very gracious.
Even upon first meeting, you knew you were in the presence of a good soul. For nearly 100 years, Paul exemplified what this world so desperately needs today, integrity and character. Prayers for a blessed assurance to his entire family .
