I´m a former grad of NBHS class of 1968 , and was a faculty member & taught at NBHS for 40 years before retiring . I enjoyed being in Mr. Fischbach´s physics class when I was a student . When Mr. Fischbach was Supt. Of Schools , he & Mr. Gattoni allowed my wife & I to go to Romania in May,1991 to adopt a baby boy from a Romanian orphanage in Europe . . Mr. Fischbach was very sympathetic, understanding & generous in letting us go there . A year later we adopted , we were blessed & had a natural son too ! You always supported my Russian & German program when I taught at NBHs too ! I always told all my students about you and our adopting a baby from Romania. The adoption program soon shut down after we adopted . There were no second chances !!We & my entire family are eternally grateful to you , Mr. Fischbach !!!God bless you and I will always remember & pray for you ! Mr. Robert Komar- retired Russian/German teacher NBHS

I want to offer my deepest condolences to the family with one more little memory of Mr. Fischbach. After I received my Master´s degree in Bilingual/ESL education I went on to get my Counseling and later my supervisory certification, always thinking unwanted to get out of the classroom. Annopeningnformandepwrtment Chair opened up and I applied for the position. Mr. Peter Fischbach called me for an interview. I was very excited. He proceeded to interview me with certain questions, and halfway through I realized that I was not fit for the job. He knew that, but he wanted me to become aware of it on my own by guiding me toward that realization. I have never forgotten that and in continued my teaching career very happily in the classroom until my retirement. May he test in peace.

I first met Peter, Mr. Fischback in 1977 when I started working as a bilingual/ESL teacher when he was in Horace Mann school. As the program got established I continued as a bilingual social Studies teacher in North Bergen. Sadly, my husband passed suddenly at age 50. I was devastated and distraught. Mr. Fischback was by then Superintendent of NB. He showed kindness, empathy, & compassion by letting me take a two month leave, finally suggesting I should try to come back to work, which was the best thing to do. L Gazic
