Raymond E. Velthuysen

Raymond Earl Velthuysen, age 74, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2022 at his residence in Macomb Township, Michigan after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Raymond was born on May 4, 1948 in Detroit to the late Henry and Lillian (nee Kline) Velthuysen. Ray graduated from Denby High School in 1966. He then attended Wayne State University achieving both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in education. Ray was a school teacher at Farwell Middle School in Detroit for 37.5 years. Throughout his life he loved spending time with his family and friends doing many activities such as camping, boating, golf, attending car shows, playing euchre, Scrabble, and other games, and traveling to new destinations within the United States.
He is the beloved husband of Karen for 48 years, loving father of Joseph (and late Erin) Velthuysen, and very proud Papa of Lily and Lainey. Additionally, Raymond was the dear brother of Beverly (Larry) Rouch and the late Ronald (Natalie) Velthuysen; as well as dear brother-in-law of Kathy Bradley. He was the uncle of Eric (Angela), Michelle, Jerry (Amanda), and Carl (Jamie), as well as dear great uncle of Heather.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday December 10, 2022 from 1-6 PM at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc. 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (n. of 22 Mile Rd.), Shelby Twp.
