Stephens – Renita "Nita" Yeager Stephens, age 67, a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024, in her home. She was born in Orange Park, Florida on January 24, 1957, to the late Cecil Guy Yeager, Jr. and Ella Mae Evans Yeager. She graduated from Edward H. White High School in 1975. She worked many jobs over the years, but her favorite was as a dietary cook and caregiver at a nursing home. After her years of working was over, she thoroughly enjoyed spending as much time as she could with her family, especially her grandchildren. She has left them with lots of memories they will forever treasure. She had a selfless heart and an amazing soul. She loved her cat, Marley, writing poetry, word search puzzles and knew almost every word to the show "Reba". She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her! She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marsha Brown; brothers-in-law, Walter Brown and Thomas Griffin; and her nephew, Jeremy Yeager.
Nita is survived by her loving children, Lucas (Tina) Axelrod and Destiny (Kyle) Wilkeson both of Jacksonville, FL; brother, David Kenny Yeager of Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Sandy Griffin and Judy (Steve) Murdaugh both of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Jasmin Miles, Dalton Miles, Levi Wilkeson, Jayden Axelrod, Zachary Axelrod, Faith Axelrod, and Marlee Cabrera; one great granddaughter, Paisleigh Crews; along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A Celebration of Nita's Life will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 11:00 am at Ferreira Funeral Services Chaffee Road Chapel with Chaplain Jim Cox officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Ferreira Funeral Services, 1320 Chaffee Road South, Jacksonville, FL, 32221, 904-378-7777.
