Richard A Herrick, age 73, passed away peacefully, July 24, 2023

Richard A Herrick was born January 20, 1950 to loving parents Dick and Josephine (Foulger) Herrick in Ogden, Utah. He had a childhood filled with fishing, golfing, camping, countless best friends and helping his dad start a business in their garage at the age of nine years old. The business flourished became a mainstay in the Ogden community known as Herrick Industrial Supply.

Rick graduated early from Bonneville High School in 1968 and went directly into the coast guard.

He spent two years in the coast guard, returning in 1970, and then participated in an additional four years in the reserves. He attended Weber State University, where he was a member of Sigma Delta Chi Fraternity, and graduated with his Associate’s degree in business/marketing.

Rick married his high school sweetheart, best friend, and the love of his life, Sharon Cornia. They were married May 1, 1973, at the Weber Club and celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary this year.

Rick ran a successful family business, Herrick Industrial Supply throughout his entire life. His love and passion for his family business was undeniable. More importantly, he loved working with his best friend, his father Dick Herrick. Rick and his father’s friendship was very profound and influenced many aspects of his family life. You could find them working together at the family business, golfing at the country club, socializing at the Weber Club, and ending the week on Sundays with family dinners at his parent’s house.

Rick and Sharon were eager to start their life together. They had three beautiful children, Trisha, Tami and Cache. The love and laughter they shared was envied by many. They filled our family home with love, laughter, humor, jokes, and occasionally, some dysfunctional humor. If my mom wasn’t throwing a shoe at my dad as he was dying laughing or telling his friends that Rick was in timeout and could not come out and play, they would be laughing about something that happened that day. If you knew my parents, then you knew our family nicknames for them, were Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne.

Rick loved telling jokes and doing card tricks (which most of you wished you knew, but never will) for family and friends. We cannot remember a week where he did not pull a prank on us, hide around the corner and scare us after a scary movie or put fake snakes out to scare us growing up.

He took his family on countless camping trips, fishing trips, RV trips, ATV trips to the desert and trips to Hawaii. Rick was also blessed to be a grandfather to five beautiful grandkids, who he cherished. He spent time teaching them how to fish, build campfires and do card tricks. When his grandkids came from out of town, if he couldn’t find time to go camping, he would bring the RV to their house and camp in the driveway, which they all loved and looked forward to.

Rick also loved and cherished his friendships he made throughout his life. If you were his friend, you became family. That was Rick’s gift, always making people laugh and feel loved.

We know that he is now with his daughter Tami, and they are holding each other tightly in heaven.

Rick is survived by his wife, Sharon C Herrick; his daughter, Trisha Herrick Ellis; son-in-law, Jeff Ellis; and his son Richard Cache Herrick; grandchildren, Hannah Ellis, Logan Ellis, Madison Ellis, Jack Alexander and Elle Alexander; siblings, Jan Johnson, Linda Sheppard and Steve Herrick; as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard V Herrick and Josephine Foulger Herrick; as well as his loving daughter, Tami Herrick Engelke.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Timbermine Steakhouse, 1701 park Blvd., Ogden.
