Roberta DeLisle Obituary

Roberta Ann Scott DeLisle – Loving Mother, Daughter, Sister, Wife and Friend
Roberta Scott DeLisle loved her family and friends fully and unconditionally, provided her support to any who would ask, and was a beacon of kindness to all who were blessed to know her. Anyone that knew her, however briefly, was better for it. Whether comforting in her incredible empathy, seeking her superb guidance, or sharing in her wonderful wit; she blessed each of our lives in a perfect way. Roberta, bewitching throughout her life, passed away on October 31, 2024, in West Bloomfield.
Roberta Scott was born on March 26, 1961, in Norfolk, Virginia to James and Jeannine Scott. She graduated from Wylie E. Groves High School in 1979.
Roberta was a remarkable scholar with tireless grit. She attained a Bachelor of Science from Western Michigan University in 1984. Upon graduating, she became an engineer at Ford Motor Company. Soon after, she met Kevin DeLisle and they married on August 22, 1987. Their marriage brought two children and 25 busy, fruitful years together. In 1992, she gave birth to her son, Michael Ryan DeLisle. Ever impressive, Roberta – a new mother and still working full time – began studies for her Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from University of Detroit Mercy.
After obtaining her second bachelor's degree in 1995, Roberta remained an unstoppable woman with an unparalleled work ethic. She returned to Detroit Mercy, pursuing a Master of Engineering Management, again working full-time as both an engineer and a mother. In 1997, the same year that she received her master's diploma, she gave birth to her daughter, Samantha Ellen DeLisle.
In 2007, Roberta became a patent examiner at the United States Patent & Trademark Office. She became certified as a primary examiner and was a decorated public servant. In 2014, she received the Bronze Medal for Superior Public Service from the Department of Commerce, and in 2019 she received the Exceptional Career Award from the Director of the Patent and Trademark Office.
Roberta was mother to Michael, Samantha, and her shih tzu-poodle Cooper. She was sister to James Scott (along with his wife Diana) and Carole Van Hoef (along with her husband Michael). She was aunt to Noelle Van Hoef, James Scott, and Richard Scott.
Roberta was endlessly proud to have raised children who adored their mother and continue to embody her virtues; Michael following in her academic footsteps of both engineering and management, and Samantha becoming a paragon of empathy and service as a healthcare professional.
Roberta was eminently fair, kind, generous, and loving. Her memory is a blessing, her lessons are gifts, and her passing is an unthinkable loss.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, November 6, 2024, 9am until Funeral Service at 11am at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel) 32515 Woodward Ave. (btwn 13-14 Mile), Royal Oak.
Thank you for keeping the family in your thoughts and prayers during this time.
