Roberta A. Towles, of Pitman, NJ, passed away on November 11th, 2024, at the age of 87.
Roberta is the beloved daughter of John and Mary Gearhart. Born on December 17th, 1936, Roberta is the oldest sister to Robert, Raymond, and her predeceased siblings George, Christina, Charles, and Helen. As a young girl, she had an endearing relationship with her grandmother, Sofia. Growing up, Roberta lived in Elizabeth, NJ, before moving to National Park where she attended Woodbury High School as graduating class of 1953. While living in National Park, Roberta became the mother of Theresa (Paul, 2023) Boerner, Kathleen (Michael) Meehan, Barbara Pastore, and Thomas Towles. As a family, they would take vacations to North Carolina and New Hampshire. The family eventually relocated to Pitman, NJ. Now with a family of her own, Roberta knew she wanted to provide the best life she could for her children. Roberta worked many different jobs, ultimately retiring from working within technical support.
When her children became older, they gave Roberta the greatest gift she could ask for, her grandchildren. Roberta flourished as the cherished Mom Mom of Amanda (Ryan), Heather (Tony), April (Matt), Caleigh, Stephanie (Rodney), Elizabeth (Sean), Angela (Derek), Dante, Tony (Anna), and GiGi of Brody, Maxton, Alaina, AJ, Maddox, Audrey, Adria, Aydenn, Piper, Shane, Lily, and Dean. Roberta loved spending time with her grandchildren & great-grandchildren, often offering to babysit or come visit as much as she could. Her family fondly remembers Roberta's ever-present presence, when her grandchildren needed support, Roberta was there.
Roberta had many loves in life, she loved to drink tea while listening to her favorite classical music from artists like Pavarotti, The 3 Tenors, and Andrea Bocelli, loved to spend time with her daughter visiting the Jersey Shore from Cape May to Ocean City, and had a deep love for her cats, Bongo, Buttons, and Trouble. Roberta enjoyed travel and reminisced on her cruises to Alaska with her friends.
Roberta will be missed dearly by those who loved her for her honest personality, dry sense of humor, and love for her family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Roberta's visitation on Monday, November 18th, 2024, from 9am - 11am, followed by a funeral ceremony at 11am, located at McGuinness Funeral Home, 573 Egg Harbor Rd, Sewell, NJ, 08080. Roberta will be laid to rest in Eglington Cemetery of Clarksboro, NJ, immediately following the ceremony.
