SHERMAN - Sandra (Duffy) Albert, 80, passed away on March 12, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering kindness. Born on July 25, 1944, in Island Falls, Sandra was the beloved daughter of Gerald Duffy and Margaret (Guiggey) Duffy.
Sandra's family was her greatest joy. Her siblings were her closest friends, and she cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. Her love and devotion created a foundation of warmth and connection for all who knew her. A lifelong member of the Catholic Church in Benedicta, Sandra's faith was a guiding light in her life. She delighted in the simple joys-discussions in her book club, evenings spent watching Jeopardy, and the companionship of her beloved dogs and cats. Despite her deep fear of birds, Sandra's heart was too big to see any creature go hungry. She fed them daily, famously saying, I don't like to see anything go hungry, Sandra had an infectious spirit and a lightness about her that brightened every room. She was always quick to laugh, and her warm, welcoming smile left an indelible impression on everyone she met. Sandra graduated as valedictorian from Sherman High School in 1962, showcasing her sharp mind and determination. She was a woman of grace, wit, and strength.
Sandra is survived by her four children: Darcy Merry and her fiancé, Olin Johnson of Sherman; Ryan Albert and his wife, Tammy, of Lincoln; Jason Albert and his wife, Beth, of Hermon; and Lindsay Hall and her husband, Adam, of Bangor. She also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: MacKenzie Merry, Carly Merry, Jaelen Albert, Sydney Albert, Jaxton Hall, and Emily Hall. Her siblings Terry Duffy (Catherine) of Benedicta, Lana Robinson (William) of Benedicta, Mona Craig (Kevin) of Patten, and Maria Martin (Terry) of Stacyville will forever hold her memory close.
Uncle Gary Moody and Aunt Patricia Guiggey. Sandra's in-laws, Priscilla and Earl Bates, Raymond (Linda) Albert, Arlene and Jerry Santoni, and Sandra Gade, along with her special friends Kelley Curtis, Jeannine Cyr, Maria Stole, and Sue Ouellette and her numerous nieces and nephews, will miss her deeply.
Sandra had a special bond with her Guiggey and Duffy families, with her aunts, uncles and cousins becoming lifelong mentors and close friends.
Preceding Sandra in death are her parents, her beloved husband Paul, her sisters-in-law Pauline Wilson, Maxine Tate and Rena Albert, her brothers-in-law Donald Albert, Carl Gade, Worley Tate, and Peter Marston, her son-in-law Kevin Merry, and nephews Aaron and Christopher Marston.
Sandra's life was a testament to love, family, and faith. She will be remembered for her kindness, resilience, and the joy she brought to those around her.
May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her loved ones. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her. Catholic services will be held on Thursday, March 20 at St. Benedict's Church in Benedicta, Maine. Visiting hours will be from 10:00-11:00am with funeral service at 11:00am with a reception immediately following at the Benedicta Parish Hall.
