On Monday, January 20, 2025, Steven departed this life at Centerpoint Hospital. He was preceded in death by his son Steven Marc Murrell Jr, parents; grandmother, Thelma Brown; Wife Yolanda Murrell, Special Aunt, Betty Brown; Brother, Andre Murrell; and sisters, Vicky Murrell and Paula Bibbs (Cotten); and brother, Brian Murrell.
Steven received his education at Lincoln High School, graduating in 1978.
He was raised as a Seventh-Day Adventist but later attended church with his wife, Yolanda Murrell, under the leadership of her father, William McClendon.
Steven was employed at Research Medical Center and Kansas City Star before concluding his career at John Knox Village, where he eventually retired. In retirement, Steven devoted his time to caring for his wife, Yolanda Murrell, and helping raise his grandchildren. He found immense joy in spending his final days playing with and cherishing their company.
Steve Marc Murrell leaves to cherish his memory for children and Johnna Blaylock, Jasteva Murrell, Markeese Murrell (Shyneice)and Nikki Murrell his siblings Pamela Abernathy(Melvin), Teri Pulluiam (Willie), and Penny Murrell, Coyela Topps (Robert) Doris Howe, Michelle Toliver, James Brown, Albert Toliver(Linda), Brian Toliver and Kelvin Hampton (Toliver) Grandchildren De'Jon, De'Mon, Shalena, Ja'Nice, Jade and Jay'Cion William. All of Kansas City, Missouri. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Steven will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025, 10:30am at Watkins Heritage Chapel. Visitation from 9am-10:30am at the chapel. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens.
