Sylvia Eugenia Flusche, 87, passed away on August 17, 2023, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
At 6 p.m. on Monday, August 21st a Rosary will be held at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home, followed by visitation from 6:30-7:30 p.m. On Tuesday, August 22nd at St. Paul Catholic Church in Electra, a Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. It will be preceded by a period of visitation starting at 8:30 a.m. and the Rite of Committal will follow at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. A meal at the St. Paul Parish Hall will follow the Rite of Committal.
A daughter of the late Martha Catherine (Brown) and Nelson M. Baird, Sylvia was born on January 18, 1936, in Silverton, Texas. She attended Electra High School, graduating as Valedictorian in 1954. Sylvia continued her education at Texas Wesleyan University for one year and was a part of the Xi Xi Lambda Electra Sorority. After she left college she went to work at Dickey McGann Insurance Savings and Loan.
Sylvia married Eugene C. Flusche in Electra on February 1, 1956. They enjoyed traveling together and she especially enjoyed their trips to New York City, Austria, and Ireland. Sylvia and Gene were very dedicated to the preservation of Mt. Carmel in Electra. Above all, her favorite activity was spending time with family and friends at Lake Kickapoo.
Along with her parents, Sylvia was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Flusche; brothers, Nelson M. Baird and Charles B. Baird; sister-in-law, Doris Robinson; and nieces Tracy Baird and Sherry Harden.
Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Carla Labaisse; granddaughter, Alexandra Labaisse; sisters-in-law, Genevieve Baird and Judy Baird; brother-in-law, Gary Flusche and wife Loren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Meals on Wheels of Wichita County in lieu of flowers.
