THOMAS A. ALLGEIER, age 74, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2021. He was the youngest child born in a family of eight, to Rosalind and Bernard Allgeier, who predeceased him in death.
Tom was a graduate of Trinity High School, Class of 1964 and attended Western Kentucky University. He was a U.S. Army veteran and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He retired as the owner operator of Allgeier Sodding Company.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, John Allgeier; and sisters, Elizabeth Allgeier, Sylvia Kendrick and Dorothy Steuerle.
Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Ruth Eisenback, Maxine Neal, Aline Carter; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and his close friend, Susan Nabb.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, December 31, 2021 at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home; 3800 Bardstown Road. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Burial will take place in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, in Radcliff, Kentucky.

I served with Tom in Vietnam 1970. He was my mentor and saved my life the first day in the field. We were in Cambodia and I seen a hand written poster that I wanted as a souvenir (really dumb). As I started to jump from the vehicle (M113a) Tom grabbed me and said sternly tat these things are booby trapped!
Seconds later the M113 in front of us hit a mine all hell broke loose and we stared firing in all directions. Tom then swing the M60 machine gun at the poster I wanted and it blew up in spectacular detonation. Thanks Tom for saving my life

I tried to find away to articulate the emotions I feel right now, but I just don't have the vocabulary to do so. Tom was a funny, just, caring, nonjudgemental, self-deprecating and always a helpful man. You knew who Tom was, you didn't have to go looking for answers with him. He will be well placed in heaven. My deepest sympathies go out to those who loved and cared for him. Which should be every person who met Tom.

Tom was a good friend of mine throughout our days at Trinity. Thought of him often with fond memories! Rest in Peace my friend!
