Timothy Brian Breslin

Timothy Brian Breslin passed away on November 5th from natural causes. Tim, affectionately known as “Chum”, was born on November 20, 1959 in Heidelberg, Germany to Dorothy McGuire Breslin and Hugh Joseph Breslin, Jr. Chum is survived by his 6 siblings; Jack Breslin, Fr. Paul Breslin, Barbara Gass, Hugh Joseph Breslin III (Alice), Christopher Breslin (Nancy), Kerry Brimmer (Kirk), 14 nieces and nephews and 21 great nieces and nephews who all adored him.

Chum was a standout two sport (football and baseball) player at Archbishop Carroll High school, graduating in 1977, before taking his dual sport talents onto the fields at DePauw University. He transferred to Villanova University, spending two years in their seminary before graduating with a bachelor’s degree from University of Maryland and later in life, a Master’s degree from Loyola University. Chum found his passions in coaching and teaching. He began his teaching and coaching career at Archbishop Carroll, as a geometry/math teacher and assistant football coach (1980-1988), head varsity baseball coach (1984-1987) and head varsity football coach (1988-1990). Chum was inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall Of Fame in 2018 for his notable successes as a player and as a coach. Chum began his college football coaching career at Georgetown University, where he was on staff from 1992-2003. He returned to high school coaching and teaching at DeMatha Catholic High School from 2003-2013 as a math teacher and Co-Offensive Coordinator /Offensive line coach. Chum’s final year of coaching was as an assistant at Gonzaga College High school in 2014. After completing his master’s degree, he left coaching to pursue a second career as a pastoral counselor/ therapist. He served the communities of St. Frances Academy High School, Catholic Charities and Kolmac Outpatient clinic.

Chum’s life was spent serving others. His legacy is the innumerable lives he positively affected, supported and pushed into self-belief. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023 at 10;30am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church (620 N. Bestgate Rd, Annapolis). A celebration of life to gather and share memories will immediately follow at the Atreeum at Soaring Timbers (610 N. Bestgate Rd., Annapolis) In Lieu of flowers, please consider donating in his name to causes that affected 2 of Chum’s beloved nieces: Caitlin’s Crew Fund at The Community Foundation of Washington County or the American Diabetes Association.
