Val Leon Kapp, 59, returned home to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 23, 2022 in Roy, Utah.
He was born June 16, 1962 in Ogden, Utah to Leon Neldon Kapp and Clara Jean Singleton. He was raised in Plain City where his heart resided his entire life. His family used to joke with him that you can take the boy out of Plain City but you can never take Plain City out of the boy. He attended Weber High School and Weber State University where he earned a degree in Graphic Design.
On October 11, 1985, Val married Diane Ashdown in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised five sons, who he was extremely proud of, and two dogs.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many ward callings.
Val was employed at Boeing as a Designer. He truly loved his job and the people he worked with. He was an outdoorsman at heart. In his younger years he was happiest when he was hunting, fishing or skiing. At a young age he was involved in an industrial accident which resulted in the loss of a leg. As it became more and more difficult for him to do things he loved most, his fascination with Bigfoot kept him occupied. He enjoyed reading, watching and taking about anything Bigfoot related.
He was preceded in death by his father, grandmother, VaCona Singleton, step-father, Arthur Bellingham and his grandparents, all of whom he loved and missed dearly.
Val is survived by his wife, Diane; his children, Zachary and Jennessa Kapp, Syracuse; Jordan and Amanda Kapp, Eagle Mountain; Alex Kapp, Roy; Kory and Amber Kapp, West Haven; and Brandan and Kassidy Kapp, West Haven; nine of the most adorable grandchildren; his mother, Clara Jean Bellingham, South Ogden; one brother, Neldon (Jan) Kapp, Perry; step-mother, Mary Kapp, Mission, TX; two step-brothers, Mike (Raquel) Merrill, Palmhurst, TX; Ken Merrill, San Antonio, TX; father and mother-in-law, Larry and Norma Ashdown, Sunset; brother-in-law, David (Kathy) Ashdown, Casa Grande, AZ; and two sisters-in-law, Shelley (Eric) Bertagnolli, Clinton; Annette (Wayne) Johnson, Enoch; and many nieces, nephews, cousin, aunts and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Thursday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Order Videos

I worked with Val a few years back. We were talking about him at work and decided to say hello so I went online to see if he had a Facebook page or something and this is what I found. I am shocked and so sad. Val was so fun to talk to and work with. We loved the stories of space shuttles and big foot and even talking about his leg. The graphics on his prosthetic leg were so beautiful. We have missed him for a while so regret not reaching out sooner. Our heartfelt condolences to his family. He was/is a great guy.

So sorry to hear about Val. We worked together at Boeing. He was so kind and always had a smile on his face. He will be missed.
