Verna Jo Wheeler was born October 8, 1948, to Vernon David Wheeler and Jessie Mae Wheeler, in Austin, Texas.
Verna graduated from Del Valle High School in 1967, where she was a member of the volleyball team. After high school, Verna enjoyed customer service roles, helping the public at J.C. Peny Department Store and Velocity Credit Union, the latter from which she retired after many years of service. In her leisure time, Verna enjoyed gardening, visiting with family members, and caring for a number of animals that randomly appeared and found a loving place to call home. Most family and friends will remember her for her beautiful smile, warm heart, and quick wit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son David Christopher Moore, sisters Georgia Sampson and Helen Collins, her brother Jesse Williams, and her lifetime companion Edward Campbell. She is survived by her son, Bryan Keith Wheeler (Elsa), her sisters Margie Williams, Bess Hardin, Joyce Limuel, and granddaughter Brianna Wheeler and Tatiana Thompkins, and grandsons David Christopher Moore Jr., Joshua Caleb Brown, Dominique Jamal Thompson, and Tiandre Thompkins.
