William Lewis "Bill" Spalding, 88, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Grand Valley Health & Rehabilitation in Martinsville.
He was born Sunday, June 14, 1936 to the late George Edward and Lucy Kendrick (Lewis) Spalding in Bloomfield, Kentucky.
Bill was a 1955 graduate of St. Joseph Preparatory School in Bardstown, Kentucky. He attended Bellarmine University and Indiana University. Bill retired from Larry Bird Ford, later John Walton Ford, in Martinsville after 20 years of employment as a parts manager. After retirement Bill drove for Morgan County Aging Services. Bill was a member of Hoosier Harvest Church and was very active with the Morgan County Civil Defense, which later became Morgan County Emergency Management. Bill will be remembered for his kindness to others and his magnetic personality that could make friends with anyone.
He is survived by his wife, Judith "Judi" (Jacobs) Spalding; sons, William "Bill" Spalding (Michelle "Mickey"), Antony "Tony" Spalding; daughter, Shannon Spalding; stepsons, Brian Martin (Tracy), Jeffrey Martin (Jeanne), Wade Martin (Traci); numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, George Spalding, Jr., Richard Spalding, Ernie Spalding, Daniel Spalding; sisters, Lucy Gorman, Julia Spalding Hagan.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Sherry "Deanne" (Dubois) Spalding; parents, George and Lucy; stepmother Catherine Hagan Spalding.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Hoosier Harvest Church, 4085 Leonard Rd, Martinsville, Indiana 46151 with Pastor Chris Page officiating. Visitation will begin one hour before the service at 1:00 p.m.
Bill will be laid to rest at Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
