William H. Spitz, Jr., 90, of Columbus, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2024, at home surrounded by family.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Bill and his wife, Frances, relocated to Commack, Long Island where they raised their family. Bill was a civil engineer, supervising construction on many public works projects throughout Long Island. Upon retiring, Bill relocated to Columbus, NJ, where he resided for 21 years. Bill was a U.S. Navy Veteran, who enlisted and served proudly during the Korean War. Bill graduated from Adelphi University in New York. He enjoyed fishing, sailing, woodworking, RVing, bowling, golfing and spending time with his family. He was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Frances (nee Colonna) Spitz; His four children and their spouses, Bill and Karen, Donna and Jim, Beth and Wil, Kirk; His Grandchildren, Kristyn, Jimmy (wife, Hope), Angela, Jessica, Andrew (wife, Laurel), Billy, Cassidy, Billy, Leighanna, Daniel, Colby, Graham and Shane; His Great Grandchildren, Lincoln, Ayla and Josie. He is pre-deceased by his three Grandchildren, William, James and Jennifer. He was a great source of strength when we lost them and He is with them now.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bill's memory to Resurrection Lutheran Church, 4315 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ 08690. Donations will be shared with Mother of Mercy Babies Home, in Ghana.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Huber-Moore Funeral Home, Bordentown, NJ.
