Jodi Holmes Obituary
Jodi was raised in Fairview Park and was a 1989 graduate of Fairview High School. She left Fairview Park long enough to attend Heidelberg University in Tiffin, earning her Bachelor of Arts in theater and English. She worked for over twenty years at Eaton Corp. as an administrative assistant, volunteered at Berea Animal Rescue Friends, and was a former member of Singing Angels.
Jodi's true passions were being active in Cleveland Community Theater and singing in the Avon Lake United Church of Christ choir. She enjoyed spending time with her husband and traveling with him,and was an awesome trip planner. Jodi was a crossword puzzle fanatic, an avid reader--especially about true disasters--and loved laughter, hanging out with friends and family, and gazing at the ocean.
Jodi was the beloved wife for eleven years of David Holmes; cat-mom to Suki and Kana; and daughter of Laurie Bettis and the late Chris Bloser. Jodi is also survived by her sister Laura Mullin and her children Andrew and Jessica; step-mother Mary Louise Bloser; aunts Jo Ann Griswold (Bruce) and Karen Bettis; and cousins Lauren Bettis, Joseph Griswold (Ashley), and Shannon Hertan (Richard). In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her uncles Jeffrey Bettis and James Bettis.

Memorial service will be Friday, September 29, 2023 at 6:00pm at Avon Lake United Church of Christ, 32801 Electric Blvd, Avon Lake, OH 44012. Family will receive friends from 5:00pm until the service at the church on Friday, September 29, 2023. www.buschcares.com 440-933-3202

I had the great pleasure and privilege of directing Jodi in several musicals over the years, not the least of which were Huntington's production of Edwin Drood and Sound of Music. Her radiant stage presence and crystal clear soprano voice elevated both productions and earned her well-deserved praise by both audiences and critics. But it was her professional work ethic, dry sense of humor, warmth, and patience that endeared her to her fellow cast members and made her such a joy to work with. And courage! She attacked Rosa Bud's impossibly high notes beautifully every single night...and then said she knew she could do better next time. So grateful I got to know her. So saddened by the loss to her family, friends, and the Cleveland theatre community at large.

The Clague Playhouse family is suffering the all-too-soon loss of actress Jodi.
She graced our stage with her talent and her voice.
She graced our lives with her energy and immense joy and enthusiasm.
But we are sure that her message would be to do the same. To live with gusto -- today.
And so, in her honor, we believe "The Show Must Go On". And therefore thank her family and friends for sharing her beauty with us.
