Alba Puissegur Carter

Alba P. Carter, 72, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2023, after fighting a lengthy battle with leukemia. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Alba was born in La Habana, Cuba on October 23, 1950 to Daniel and Alba Puissegur. At the age of nine she immigrated with her family to Moultrie, Georgia where she grew up and graduated from high school in 1968. Following high school Alba attended the University of Florida where she graduated with a 4.0 grade average and was an honored member of Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.
Alba began her 25 year career with the Social Security Administration in 1975. Throughout her time there she went on to achieve multiple promotions ultimately being named the Teleservice Center Manager overseeing an office of 130+ employees. Those that worked with her spoke highly of her leadership, kindness, and generosity.
Alba was very active volunteering at Lake Carroll Baptist Church for over 30 years. She also served on the PTSA Board for Buchanan Middle School and Gaither High School and volunteered with the literacy program where she helped a countless number of students.
She is predeceased by her father Daniel, her mother Alba, and her brother Daniel. Though she achieved many things throughout her life her greatest joy was loving, serving, and hosting family and friends. It was often said her generosity was unmatched. She will be missed by her husband of 48 years, Michael; her brother, Frank; her children, Leah (Mark) and Daniel (Kerry); as well as 5 grandchildren and one on the way.
A visitation and celebration of life service will be held at Lake Carroll Baptist Church (Mission Hill), 12012 N. Rome Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33612, on Friday, October 20th, 2023. Visitation with the family will take place from 9 AM – 10:30 AM followed by a celebration of life service at 10:45 AM.
