Alfonso J. "Al" D'Aniello

Alfonso J. D'aniello 95, of Easton, formerly of Franklin passed away on Saturday October7th, 2023 after a brief illness. Al was born on May 7, 1928. The son of Joseph and Agnes D'anielllo, and the beloved husband of Joan Ellen (Powers) D'aniello. He was the father of Joseph of Plainville, Stephen of Franklin, Robert of South Carolina, Mark of Milford, Cathy Burns of Pennsylvania, Diane Rogers of West Medway and father of the late Paul D'aniello who went to God on June 3rd, 1995. He was the stepfather of Ellen Skroski of Whatley. Deborah Rideout of Easton and Elizabeth Doddato of Sanderland. He loved dearly 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Al was most active in Church activities. He was an alter boy, sang in the choir and was a member of the Legion of Mary. Al was made an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus of the Sacred Heart council 1847. He was a knight for over 55 years. As a member of the confraternity of the most Holy Rosary, Al made hundreds of rosary beads for the missions in South America.
At Franklin high school, Al was president of his class and a member of the football team. After graduation Al attended Boston College and received a bachelors of Science degree in Biology. After serving two years in the army during the Korean War Al returned to Boston College and earned a Masters degree in Psychology. He then began a teaching career. He taught Biology in Natick, Brookline and Wellesley. He also taught evening classes at Boston College and StoneHill College. Al was promoted to the principalship of King Philip Regional High School and later to the principalship of Franklin High school, the school he graduated from.
After 34 years in education Al shifted his focus to psychology. He applied and was accepted to a position working for the department of Mental Health at the Wrentham State School. After 10 years Al decided to retire. But he really didn't retire; he became a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and helped build several houses. He also assisted his family in their endeavors, a gift shop in New Hampshire, a real estate office in North Attleboro, a grocery store in Franklin and a printing design business also in Franklin. Finally Al did retire!
Al's funeral will be held from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St, Franklin, Thursday Oct 12th with visitation beginning at 10am and concluding at 12noon. At 12:30pm there will be a graveside service at St. Mary's Cemetery.
A Catholic mass will take place at the Holy Cross Church in Easton at a later date.
