Carl J. "Chic" Saccente, Sr, 91, of Windsor Locks passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Hartford Hospital. He was born November 29, 1932 in Hartford to Durando and Mary (Arcieri) Saccente. Carl grew up in Hartford and moved to Windsor Locks and resided there for over 65 years. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict Era. He was proprietor, along with his brother-in-law, Frank Vincenzo, of a Hartford Tavern prior to owning and operating Durando Carpet Service for over 30 years. He then moved on and retired from the Phoenix Insurance Company in Hartford working in the Building Management Department still carrying on his carpet service expertise. Along with his wife, Carl loved to travel all over the world, one of their most enjoyable destinations was Las Vegas. His favorite pastime was his family which was most important to him. Hosting spaghetti and meatball dinners every Sunday for many years was something to behold and admire. Carl had a wonderful support system of family, friends and neighbors that always checked in on him, especially as he became ill. The support system he had is a true testament of what Carl was all about. People cared about him because he did the same for others. Carl is survived by his son, James Saccente; his daughters, Toni Lawsing and her husband Pete, Michelle Bowen and her husband John; his son-in-law, Chris Schlichting; his daughter-in- law, Jill Saccente; his grandchildren, Tara and Dane Bellucci, Courtney, Nicole, Matthew and Amanda Saccente, Nicholas and Anthony Saccente, Samantha Champney and her husband Matthew, Johnny and Joshua Bowen; his great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Donovan, Seager and Bennett; sisters-in-law Harriet Saccente, Cathy Saccente, Mary-Ellen Vincenzo, brother-in-law Tom Waller, and Rita Gupton who was like a 4th daughter to Carl. Carl was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Patricia in 2014 to whom he was married for 58 years; his daughter, Donna Bellucci; his son, Carl J. Saccente, Jr, his brothers, Donald and Doranto Saccente, his brothers-in-law, Frank Vincenzo, Robert Daly; sisters-in-law Margaret Daly and Noreen Waller; and a very special Uncle and Aunt that he was very close to, John and Frances Saccente. There are so many other relatives, too many to mention, with whom he loved very much. Relatives and friends may join the family on Sunday, July 7, 2024, from 4-7 pm at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St, Windsor Locks, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial, presided by his god-son Father Dennis Vincenzo, will take place at 10:00 am on Monday, July 8, 2024, at St. Mary Church, 42 Spring St, Windsor Locks (Please meet directly at church). Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Windsor Locks. In lieu of flowers, family requests any donations be made to the American Heart Association. So sorry to hear about Chick. He and my dad Hank DiUlio were so close until my dad's death in 1983. I hope they are having some good times together in heaven now, especially with uncle Johnny.

My condolences to the Saccente family. I had the pleasure of knowing Chick during my working days at the Phoenix Ins. Co. Many times during the slow days in the carpentry dept. I would help Carl doing carpet installation. Many times he had to stop working to answer a call (7310) his home number. God has called another quality person, may his soul Rest in Peace-Dean Yost
