Carol Ann Wacenske, age 84, of Big Flats, New York, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Guthrie Corning Hospital. She was born on December 5, 1940, in Painted Post, New York, to Earl and Gennie (Wixon) Moulthrop. Carol was a 1959 graduate of Painted Post High School. She married the love of her life, Harold Wacenske, on July 25, 1959, at the Painted Post Methodist Church.
Carol retired from Corning Inc. where she worked as an administrative assistant. She also served as the secretary for the Class of 59 Alumni Association.
Carol had a unique sense of style and self-expression through her home. She loved remodeling and decorating her home, especially at Christmas time with her extensive collection of Snow Babies figurines. She was always striving to make her home a warm, comfortable, and welcoming environment for all who entered. Her four legged companions Noah and Zoie were her comfort and brought her great joy. She was a dedicated volunteer for the SPCA and will be remembered as a wonderful cook who found joy in preparing meals for others. Above all, Carol was a selfless and graceful woman who always thought of others before herself. For over 40 years, Carol and Harold enjoyed the Friday night tradition of playing euchre card games with their friends.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Harold R. Wacenske, Sr., and daughter Jennifer C. Wacenske of Corning, along with many family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by her beloved son, Harold R. Wacenske, Jr.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Phillips Funeral Home in Corning has been entrusted with the arrangements.
