Claude Michael Juncker passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at the age of 74, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 3, 1950 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Clarence A. Juncker, Sr. and Mirl M. Juncker. Claude was preceded in death by his brother, Clarence A. "Jim" Juncker, Jr. (Bonnie) and sister, Doris J. Helffrich (Raymond). He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elaine L. Juncker, and their three children: Heather J. Petit (Toby), Dr. Meredith A. Juncker, and Byron J. Juncker (Elizabeth). Claude also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
After graduating from Chalmette High School and Louisiana State University in New Orleans, Claude began his career in Sales and Purchasing, holding several leadership positions throughout his professional journey. He enjoyed participating in coaching his son's recreational sports teams, attending dance recitals for his two daughters, and attending Hahnville High School football games, where he watched his son play and his daughters dance for the Hi-Steppers. He was an avid LSU and Saints fan and spent his entire life passionately cheering for these teams. In addition to supporting his children's extracurricular activities, he loved fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family and beloved "pup pups," "grand pup pups," and "grand cat." Claude was known for his charismatic and social nature; he could strike up a conversation with anyone and make them feel like they had known him forever. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
The family would also like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff, nurses, and physicians who provided exceptional care in the MTSU at Ochsner Medical Center Jefferson Highway, as well as his physicians at East Jefferson General Hospital for the outstanding care he received throughout the years.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a Catholic Mass at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered at www.gardenofmemoriesmetairie.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project (https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org), as these are two organizations Claude was passionate about.
