Connie Franklin Young, 67, of Section, AL passed away at her home with her loving husband and dearly devoted sister by her side on Wednesday June 5, 2024,
Funeral Services will be held at Dansby Heritage Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024, with the Rev. Michael Ingram officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until funeral time. Pallbearers will be Lee Young, Randy Young, Ace Franklin-Gibson, Scooter Franklin, Steve Chambers, and Jon Rogers.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Sydney Franklin of Piedmont, AL. She grew up in Piedmont and graduated from Piedmont High School, Holy Name of Jesus School of Nursing, Jacksonville State University, and received her masters in psychiatric nursing from the University of Alabama Birmingham. Connie was a registered nurse and a beloved teacher of nursing at her Alma Mater, Holy Name, as well as University of Alabama Huntsville, Auburn University, and the University of Tennessee. She also was a nurse with the US Naval Reserve.
On December 23, 1988, Connie married the love of her life, Roger Young, of Piedmont, AL. They settled near Scottsboro, AL in a home overlooking the beautiful Tennessee River and the mountains.
Connie was a member of the Section United Methodist Church and an active member of the Wednesday Morning Bible Study Class. She loved the Lord with all her heart, studying her Bible daily and always had a scripture with her to pass on to a friend or a stranger. Family and friends could always count on Connie for prayer and sound advice. She was a passionate animal lover, loved to shop, enjoyed watching sunsets over the Tennessee River with Roger, and was an impeccable decorator.
Connie is survived by her husband, Roger, her sister, Camilla Franklin, her nephew, Ace, and special cousins, Sallie Sanford, Beverly Wright, Sheila Jennings, Larry Rogers, and Scooter Franklin. She had friends around the world she cherished.
