David Lawrence Cohen, 81 of Pittsfield, passed away August 31, 2025 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on August 9, 1944, he was the son of Solomon and Pauline Weiner Cohen. He was a 1962 graduate of Drury High School in North Adams and was a Williams College graduate as well.
Mr. Cohen married the former Carol A. Groat on November 14, 1967.
He was a teacher for many years in North Adams at Greylock Elementary.
David is survived by his wife Carol Cohen of Pittsfield; two living sons, Stephen Cohen (Pamela Cohen) of Pittsfield and Daniel Cohen (Aimee Gelinas) of Windsor. As well as a grandson, Cody Paschal and two nephews Aaron and Michael. David was predeceased by his parents and a sister Sharon Kohn. He was also predeceased by his son Scott Cohen in 2000.
David enjoyed planting his yearly bucket flowers and displaying a beautiful fall creation he put together every year. He was an active member of the Senior Center on North Street and joined a program they offered called "Stage to screen", which he eventually ran every Tuesday and truly enjoyed the people in that group. he was a loving husband to his wife of 58 years carol and was a loving and caring father to his 3 sons a good friend and had a great sense of humor. David will be greatly missed by his wife and sons and was a loving and steadfast person. We love u always David Cohen.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral home services will be held, Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield. Calling hours will precede the service from 1 to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his name to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
