David Todd Darst, 66, of Louisville passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2023, at Hosparus Inpatient Care Unit downtown.
He was born April 1, 1957, in Louisville, one of four children to Charles F. Darst, Jr. and Jacqueline Norrenbrock Darst.
David was a 1975 graduate of Trinity High School and received his bachelors in marketing from the University of Dayton in 1979. He had a 40-year career in sales and sales management, most recently holding the position of vice president of sales at Wolters Kluwer.
David was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He loved making memories with his family at their lake house on Lake Erie and enjoyed the Kentucky Derby and a great bourbon. David and his family were members of Hunting Creek Country Club where he played pickleball and golf and was the announcer for the swim team for many years.
All his life he was devoted to his family. Being there for his wife and children, and as their family has grown, stepping into those big shoes known as "Papa" to his three grandchildren. They were the light of his life.
With his sharp sense of humor, quick wit, and talent for being a jokester, his mission was to make someone's day better. He loved people and people loved him, he was everyone's friend. David will be dearly missed by all.
In addition to his parents, Charles and Jacqueline, he is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Julie Brown Darst; children, Meghan Jones (Andrew), Kristen Curtin (Matt), Michael Darst and Jaclyn Darst; three grandchildren, Marshall and Warren Jones and Collins Curtin. He is also survived by his siblings, Greg Darst, Lisa Darst Menard (Tim), Maria Darst Elkins (Steve) and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2023 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Cherrywood Road. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Ratterman Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Road, East Louisville.
Memorial gifts in the form of contributions may be made to Hosparus of Louisville.

Dear Darst Family,
I´m so sorry for your loss. I just found out about Dave´s passing. My deepest sympathy to you. My son always spoke so highly of him, and enjoyed all of the parties you had while he was growing up. Hugs and prayers.

Dear Jackie and Todd,
It has been a long time since Little Colonel Theatre days, but I remember that you all always had good stories about your family. I am so sorry to see that you have lost your son.
Thinking of you all, Josie Wiseman

I just found put about David's passing last night, Friday evening of the Twenty Sixth. I am saddened and sorry for his passing and the loss to his family. I had a lot of fun playing with David at his parents place in Pewee Valley, while we were both classmates at Pewee Valley. Maybe about 5 years ago, we reconnected, on Facebook. We didn't interact much on Facebook, but I was always glad to see his posts. He was so proud of his whole family.
