Edward James Taylor

Edward James Taylor passed away, surrounded by his family on Friday evening, December 27th, 2024, at the age of 90 years. He was the fourth of six children born to the late George Murray and Edna Margaret (nee Bloomer) Taylor in Passaic Co., NJ on January 22, 1934.
Ed received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from St. Joseph's University, Philadelphia, (1956) and a Master of Science degree in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, (1965).
Ed was a retired aerospace engineer. He spent most of his years with General Electric Aerospace, Martin Marietta Aerospace and Lockheed-Martin Corp. (Valley Forge PA and Hampton, VA). He worked on the Mars Viking Project at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA. Ed was also an instructor of Orbit Mechanics.
He was a devoted member of the Pro-Life Coalition of Chester Co., PA, having served many years on the Board; he also was a PREP instructor and Lecturer for St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Downingtown. During the 1970s Ed served as an assistant Scout Master, Troop 305, Denbigh, VA. Ed was a passionate, lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Flyers, 76ers, and the Phillies. Besides being with his family, Ed enjoyed playing golf, ballroom dancing, and past vacations in Maui, Hawaii.
Ed is survived by his wife, Diane V. (nee Scott) of Malvern; daughters, Cathy Wentz (Bob) of Downingtown and Lisa Cox (Barry) of Malvern; grandchildren Michael B. Wentz (Katie), Rebecca L. Welk (AJ), Christina A. Wentz (Chris Handzus), Christian A. Tarmin and Antonio A. Tarmin and great grandchildren Emma Taylor Welk and Ginny Rae Wentz.
Ed was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Cynthia A., and son, Christian G., and his siblings, Bob, Dick, Don, Joeby Taylor and Louise Simpson.
Service to be held at 10:30am at St. Agnes Cemetery in West Chester, PA. A luncheon will immediately follow at Brickside Grille in Exton, PA.
