Emmerson "Bill" William Munro II, 72, of Mundelein, was born on October 12, 1952, in Chicago and passed away on March 15, 2025, in Libertyville.
Bill was the beloved son of Emmerson and Elfriede (nee Schwerdtfeger) Munro Sr., and one of five siblings. He was a cherished uncle and deeply valued his family connections. Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Lynn, and his two loving sons, Jared and Alec.
Bill pursued his education at Belding Elementary, Carl Schurz High School, McKendree College, and North Central College, where he earned a B.A. in Physical Education. His career journey included roles as a Field Representative and Area Manager at Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society, a Personal Financial Advisor at Ameriprise Financial Services, and later as a substitute teacher and Teacher Aide at Vernon Hills High School.
An active and dedicated member of the Boy Scouts, Bill's passion extended beyond his sons earning their Eagle Scout honors. He was highly regarded for his leadership, as reflected in the numerous mentoring pins he received from Scouts who benefited from his guidance.
Bill's love for sports was boundless. Whether he was playing, coaching, or spectating, sports played a central role in his life. He cherished coaching his sons during their Little League days, attending their various sports events, and being present for all their band concerts. At Vernon Hills High School, Bill's talents as a coach for Boys Bowling and Girls and Boys Tennis shone brightly, as he enthusiastically shared his expertise with young athletes.
Bill will be remembered for his vibrant personality, sharp wit, unwavering work ethic, and deep devotion to his family. He had an extraordinary ability to connect with people and leave a lasting impact on everyone he met. He was a loyal friend to many and will be profoundly missed.
A celebration of life will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Vernon Hills Sullivan Community Center, 635 N. Aspen Dr. Vernon Hills, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations in Bill's name be made to Vernon Hills High School Cougar Athletic Boosters, https://vhhscab.sportngin.com/register/form/525493360. We were greatly saddened to hear about Bill`s passing. My husband, son and I enjoyed Bill`s company and guidance through our many years of Boy Scout activities and high school events. Bill was one of the nicest guys you could know, always a kind word, funny joke, or lending a hand. He will definitely be missed by the community; the world would be a better place with more people like Bill. Our thoughts and prayers are extended to Lynn & the boys.
