Ernest Eugene Seagraves 1944-2024
Ernest Seagraves, 79, of Grayson passed away Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. He was born October 10, 1944, in Hitchins, Kentucky, a son of the late John William and Myrtle Blevins Seagraves. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Seagraves Branam, and five brothers, Lloyd Sagraves, Orville Sagraves, Harlan Seagraves, James Ralph Seagraves, and John B. Seagraves.
Ernest was of the Freewill Baptist faith and a member of Trimble #145 Masonic Lodge F&AM Grayson, Kentucky. He was valedictorian of his class at Hitchins High School and continued his education at Morehead State University with an undergraduate degree in chemistry and a master's degree in business administration. He was a combustion engineer at AK Steel in Ashland, Kentucky, retiring after thirty-one years in its energy/combustion department.
He is survived by a son, Ernest Seagraves, Jr., of Grayson, Kentucky; two daughters, Sheri Woods (Edwin) of Grayson, Kentucky, and LeAnn Barber (Eli) of Lexington, Kentucky; and a granddaughter, Erin Seagraves.
Funeral services will be Sunday, April 28, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, Kentucky, with Jason Johnson officiating. Masonic services by Trimble Lodge F&AM 145 will be provided just before funeral services at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.
