Gregory Henry Brenan, "Rock", 71, was born on October 11, 1953, to Thomas E. Brenan III and Mary Ann Guidry Brenan in New Orleans, Louisiana. He passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. Greg was a graduate of Archbishop Rummel High School and was a clerk on the New Orleans river front for over 30 years, an emergency medical technician (EMT) and a volunteer fireman.
Greg also known as "Rock" was truly the rock of his family. He was a devoted husband, exceptional father, a grandfather who adored his grandchildren dearly and a loving brother. Greg enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and always looked forward to converting his home into a gathering space. During his free time, you would find him either active in one of his many hobbies, working on their property in Folsom with his wife, strumming the guitar blessing nature with his beautiful voice or on a fishing/hunting expedition trip with his two sons.
Greg was devout in his faith in God with a special calling to help those around him. He lived each day with grace as a member of the First Baptist Church of Folsom. Through his calling Greg regularly volunteered at local senior living facilities providing therapeutic equestrian visits, attended mission trips to both Prague and Belarus as both a minister and EMT, volunteered on the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Team, volunteered as a leader for young men for the First Baptist summer mission camps, was Past Chair of the First Baptist Church Benevolence Committee and volunteered as a staff member of the men's outreach group Marked Men of Christ.
Greg is survived by his loving wife of over 35 years, Janine L. Barrett; his children Gregory H. Brenan II (Darlene), Michelle Lovitt (Scott), Timothy R. Brenan (Jenna); his grandchildren Kristian, Gabriel, Havana, Max and Luke; his sister Cindy Babylon (Louis); as well as numerous family, cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and his beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas E. Brenan III and Mary Ann Guidry Brenan, as well as his brother Thomas E. Brenan IV and sister Jan M. Brenan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Folsom 13320 Broadway St., Folsom, Louisiana 70437. Visitation 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Worship Service at 11:00 AM, followed by a remembrance reception at the church's Family Life Center.
