Jack Eleyet, 94 years old, passed away peacefully at Pleasant View Nursing Home in
Monroe, WI on April 4, 2024. Jack was born in Urbana Ohio on April 9,1929 to Ralph and Edith Eleyet. His family moved to Dayton, Ohio where he participated in the Boy Scouts, becoming an Eagle Scout and was an active member of the YMCA. He attended Ohio State University and was an avid supporter of the Buckeyes especially when they competed against the Badgers! He enlisted in the Air Force in 1950, serving four years during the Korean War. He was stationed in Milwaukee and then deployed to Greenland, serving as a Medic.
In 1953 he married Jean Collins from Cadott WI. They met on a blind date upon which she brought her schoolbooks along. Despite this awkward first date they soon married. Jean's father, Lloyd Collins, encouraged Jack to consider teaching as a profession. He agreed. Jack, Jean and Lloyd all graduated with their teaching degree on the same day.
Jack received his undergraduate degree from UW Eau Claire and his master's degree from University of Northern Iowa. During his career he taught high school math and became the head of the Math Department at Brookfield Central High School. Jack loved his professional career in teaching. He was a no-nonsense teacher with a quick wit partnered with humor that kept the students engaged. He also taught part-time at Cardinal Stritch College, Viterbo University and Blackhawk Tech.
Jack was a supportive father to his three children who were active in sports and High School band. Jack chaperoned school trips to Russia, The Cotton Bowl and more. At family/friend gatherings he led the fun, and his laugh could be heard blocks away. He joined his wife, Jean, during singalongs; she played the piano and he played the ukulele.
He was a volunteer in his community, active in his church and always eager to lend a helping hand to a neighbor or friend. His faith in Jesus Christ was not just religion but a relationship. His life reflected faith, love, kindness and respect to all he met.
Jack is survived by his children: Terry (Joe) Snow; Debbie (James) Spinti; Tim (Gwen) Eleyet; Thinakorn & Kannika Assarattanakul. Forever remembered by his eight grandchildren: Erin (Nick) Nadelhoffer, Doug (Katie) Hensel; Jon (Rachel) Eleyet; Christine (Daniel) Marta; Renee (Joel) Pike; Ryan (Emily) Spinti; Sara (Chad) Williams; Andrew (Vicki) Assarattanakul. Jack adored his twenty-three great grandchildren!
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jean Eleyet, his brother Richard Eleyet, his grandson Daniel Hensel and his great-granddaughter Emily Pike.
